    Senior Information Assurance Engineer

    Responsibilities

    • Perform or lead:
      • security requirements analysis, security requirements definition, system security design, security architecture generation, security trade studies, and security verification and validation with little or no supervision
      • security planning, cost and risk analyses for the program security activities
      • customer security requirements analysis, develop system security requirements and define allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
    • Contribute to detailed security analyses at the system of system (SOS) level
    • Synthesize security solutions within the context of the system to meet customer expectations while staying within schedule and cost constraints
    • Research and analyze data such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine security of design
    • Choose appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of the security engineering products
    • Execute or lead development of program-required security documentation including security, contingency, and security tests plans/procedures in compliance with IA policy
    • Support or lead Assessment and Authorization (A&A) (or Certification and Accreditation (C&A) activities, and generate program documentation
    • Test and evaluate security to ensure that requirements have been implemented
    • Scan security and analyze scan results
    • Assess and mitigate system security threats and risks throughout program life cycle
    • Lead:
      • technical security tasks for medium teams or projects,
      • small security proposals and contributes the security portions of medium sized proposals
      • generation of small subcontract Statement of Works (SOWs)
    • May supervise or manage lower level employees; may mentor less experienced engineers within the department on IA/cyber

    Qualifications

    • Required – Secret clearance.
    • Excellent use and understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Excellent understanding of cyber security
      • specifications such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), DIACAP, STIGs and other government security specifications and guidelines
      • technology and trends
    • Contributes to the achievement of business objectives
    • Recognizes and incorporates various security designs and lessons learned
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills; able to sell concepts and ideas
    • Effective in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions as they affect the cyber design and implementation
    • Excellent in reporting relevant cyber systems engineering design
    • Regular contact with senior levels of security work groups
    • Able to lead security work groups
    • Contact with project leaders and other professionals within the Engineering department and with project teams
    • Frequent contact with the external customers' security professionals
    • Excellent understanding of and ability to apply basic project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
    • Creative thinker, good multi-tasker, works under limited direction
    • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office applications

    Education and Experience:  

    Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
