    Systems Engineer 3

    As an Early Career DSP Subsystems/Algorithms Engineer (Level 3), you will design and develop state-of-the-art, space based communication systems for commercial, civil and/or national security programs. You will be part of a highly motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and develop next generation RF and digital satellite communication systems
    • Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms
    • Conduct performance analysis of signal processing models
    • Perform waveform development and characterization
    • Perform trade studies
    • Support integration ant test of our payloads and spacecraft from unit level through in-orbit operations
    • Support HDL-level design and verification
    • Perform detailed system design and verification activities
    • Project assignments typically span the unit life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite unit development and test. Candidates will belong to a systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists.

    Qualifications

    • Required – active Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
    • Qualified candidates must have demonstrable experience in one or more of the following: digital communication theory
    • and systems, digital signal processing (DSP), algorithm design and implementation, or systems engineering principles.
    • Basic Skills:
      • 1+ years of experience with Matlab and/or Simulink.
      • 3+ years of experience in digital signal processing or digital communications
      • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering concepts (requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design and trade design).

    Preferred:

    • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink.
    • Experience working with ASICs or FPGAs
    • Experience with performance characteristics of analog electronics or data converters (ADCs / DACs)
    • Experience with digital/RF lab equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer)

    *U.S. Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

     

    Education and Experience:  Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.
