    Senior Advanced Engineering Technician

     (US Citizenship Required*)

    Responsibilities

    • Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, using a variety of systems, involving an application or technical skills in specific area (electrical, testing, manufacturing, etc)
    • Work with engineers in developing process procedures, assembly instructions, process set-up, preventive maintenance and/or calibration tasks
    • Determine rework processes and quality testing or inspection related to the production of parts, components, subassembly's, and final assemblies.
    • Use sophisticated programs to author and issue work plans and/or collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.
    • Determine and develop procedures to execute, control, or modify the manufacturing process.
    • Assemble precision electromechanical products
    • Drill, ream, burnish, and tap; use precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to tolerances; disassemble precision assemblies to correct malfunctions
    • Open to new ideas, champion change, and support change when directed from management
    • Work from schematics diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to build, test, and troubleshoot
    • Work with associates in other departments and understand cross-functional relationships
    • Analyze results and implement procedures for problem
    • Measure work piece with instruments such as electronic gauges and optical light; compare dimensions with specifications to ascertain amount of stock to be removed; evaluate compounds, diamonds, and lap material needed to achieve specifications and set-up requirements
    • Prepare and condition surface of lap to achieve proper geometric form and tolerance per requirements
    • Apply compound to work piece and rub lap across it with rotary or reciprocating motion, feeling friction and applying required pressure to attain specified tolerances
    • Verify conformance to specifications via complex measurements
    • Verify conformance of work piece to process specifications requirements
    • Manually handle parts with care to prevent surface defects
    • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
    • Design and draw sketches for tooling and laps to complete task
    • Promote continuous product improvement by conceptualizing and implementing new procedures, processes or fixtures
    • Travel – 25% of the time, for training.

    Qualifications

    • Able to work under a scope for long periods of time at 40x magnification
    • Able to read blueprints, sketches and drawings
    • Adapts to new training and demonstrates competence in site-specific skill sets
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Manual dexterity, good eyesight, attention to detail, and a great deal of concentration and patience
    • Working knowledge of theory, design, operation, and function of accelerometers and gyroscopes
    • Experience working in an ISO/clean room/instrument or medical device manufacturing environment.
    • Background in watchmaking or other experience in miniature precision devices is desirable

    *US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

     

    Education and Experience:

    • AA degree in related discipline or equivalent required
    • 5 years minimum of relevant experience required.
