    Tester Design Characterization Engineer

     (US Citizenship Required*)

    Pittsfield, MA



    • Participate in test plan design, electrical analysis, and verification of electrical components, equipment and systems
    • Apply principles and techniques of Electrical Engineering; analyze root cause of electrical issues; conduct tests; evaluate results to formulate, and implement solutions to issues; Participate in reviews of electrical components, equipment and systems
    • Test & analyze test systems; document test & calculations in report
    • Apply defined electrical processes used throughout program/project lifecycle
    • Support generation of engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the electrical development life cycle
    • Plans sub tasks for activities described above
    • Generally work with multiple work groups, on problems of moderate scope, under frequent general supervision, with some contact with project leaders and Program Managers
    • May have some contact with external customers
    • Failure to accomplish results or errors may cause delays or require the allocation of additional resources
    • Create Characterization Test Plan and measure Characterization
    • Record all results and analysis in a test report
    • Versa Module Eurocard (VME) Module Acceptance Tests; Power Supply Acceptance Tests; Acceptance Test Plans (ATP); Acceptance Test Specifications (ATS)
    • Module Test Fixture Design
    • Fault Coverage Analysis
    • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
    • Support & engage in programs, projects and practices behind company culture and strategy; comply with all policies and procedures
    • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure company services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
    • Develop test software/hardware for existing and new designs, including Commercial Off the Shelf (COTs) and Non-Development Item (NDI)
    • Interface to Program Management for test development tasks
    • Interface and support Manufacturing for acceptance tester issues and assist troubleshooting module and power supply issues
    • Implement and improve company and C2 Systems test design process
    • Actively pursue Process/Quality improvements


    • Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
    • Considerable use/understanding of electrical engineering processes, concepts, principles, theories, and design tools
    • Knowledgeable about test instrumentation
    • LabVIEW Experience
    • Knowledge of military standards
    • Proficient in MS Office applications
    • Considerable written and verbal communications skills
    • Able to think creatively, multi-task, and work in a team environment
    • Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    • Able to recognize and clearly report information relevant to sound electrical engineering design
    • Travel may be required



    • Module test and the test engineering process
    • Tested or implemented COTs and NDI products
    • Programming: LabView, Test Stand, Test Studio, PowerBook C, UNIX
    • Scripting: Java, Kermit, Perl
    • Testers: Teradyne Spectrum 9100, NH Research 8100i and 5700
    • emPower Test Executive

    *US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.


    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
