    Senior DSP Electrical Engineer

     (US Citizenship Required*)

    Florham Park, NJ



    • Responsible and accountable for electrical technical planning, scheduling, cost analysis, risk analysis, and successful execution of small to medium programs or major electrical subsystems of a larger program containing substantial electrical content
    • Substantial contribution to electrical requirements analysis, requirements definition & management, functional analysis, performance analysis (timing, power, etc.), interface analysis, and definition for the design, integration and verification of electrical components, equipment and systems for major programs and projects containing substantial, complex electrical content
    • Lead the requirements and functional allocation to electrical units, modules and components
    • Plan and lead electrical engineering root cause analysis for complex electrical issues, conduct experimental tests, evaluate results to formulate and implement solutions to issues
    • Substantial contribution to generation and maintenance of electrical work products (plans, specifications, design documentation, etc.) used for internal consumption and/or deliverable to external customers
    • Develop and present electrical requirements, concepts, designs, decisions, and results to internal management, other organizations, team mates, and external customers
    • Substantial contributions to technical subcontract management; may include SOW development, proposal evaluation, source selection, technical oversight, and subcontractor work product evaluation and acceptance
    • Lead electrical reviews of electrical components, equipment and systems
    • Evaluate vendor capability to support product development
    • Apply a strong understanding of the organizationally defined electrical processes throughout the lifecycle of the program or project
    • Participate in improving the electrical organizational processes
    • Support generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the electrical development life cycle
    • Lead research & analysis of data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
    • Lead small technical proposals and contributes to proposals
    • May serve as a proposal cost or technical volume manager


    • Able to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance. Active Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
    • Strong background in math and Matlab
    • Expertise with digital signal processing algorithms for optical coherent communications
    • Familiarity with 100-400G modulation schemes, such as PM-BPSK, PM-QPSK, PM-QAM
    • Very strong use and understanding of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods
    • Very strong understanding of electrical engineering processes
    • Aware of business objective and Engineering role in achieving
    • Very strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Very strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Able to recognize and clearly report information relevant to sound electrical engineering design
    • Understands and applies basic project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
    • Demonstrated ability to track scope growth


    • Experience analyzing physical plant/jones matrices, polarization, phase, PMD, CD, OSNR and other impairments along with advanced FEC algorithms are desirable
    • Experience with VPI modeling and simulation tools for system analysis and simulation are a plus

    *US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.


    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Master's degree preferred.
