    IT Design Systems Engineer

     (US Citizenship Required*)

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in requirements analysis, definition, and management, functional & performance analysis, trade studies, system design, integration, and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system elements direct supervision
    • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE/BFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Support generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
    • Develop and evaluate systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
    • Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses
    • Plan sub tasks for activities described above
    • Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
    • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
    • Develop professional expertise; apply company policies & procedures to resolve various issues
    • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
    • Receives instructions from immediate supervisor; works under general supervision
    • Contact with multiple work groups, with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department
    • May have some contact outside Engineering or with external customers
    • May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
    • May develop system security documentation on both new and fielded information systems
    • Travel may be required
    • Resolve problems of moderate scope
    • Keep abreast of technology trend

    Qualifications

    • Required – able to obtain Secret clearance
    • Familiar with technical standards
    • Considerable knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Considerable awareness of business objective and Engineering’s role in achieving
    • Considerable knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
    • Able to grasp and apply new information quickly and able to handle more complex assignments
    • Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
    • Considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Considerable written and verbal communications skills to communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    • Creative thinker, multi-tasker
    • Builds productive internal/external working relationships
    • Able to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design

    Preferred:

    • Degree in security, networking, IT or related are preferred. 
    • Strong background in Configuration Management and a desire to grow in the IT field, including obtaining certifications.

    *US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

     

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
    • Agile experience preferred.
