    IT Design Systems Engineer

     (US Citizenship Required*)

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in requirements analysis, definition, & management, functional & performance analysis, trade studies, systems design, integration, and test, validation and interface definition studies of system elements
    • Research and analyze data, to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Support technical engineering product generation via appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
    • Develop and evaluate systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
    • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
    • Develop professional expertise; apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
    • Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
    • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
    • Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses
    • Work under general supervision with instructions from supervisor
    • Contact with multiple work groups, Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME), and other Engineering professionals; may have contact outside Engineering or with external customers
    • Resolve problems of moderate scope
    • May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all system technical security features (identification, authentication, access control, labeling, auditing, etc) are considered and function
    • May develop system security documentation on both new and fielded information systems
    • Travel may be required

    Qualifications

    • Required – able to obtain Secret clearance within 24 months
    • Familiar with technical standards
    • Knows systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Aware of business objective and Engineering role in achieving
    • Knows requirements management and system modeling tools
    • Can grasp and apply new information quickly; can handle more complex assignments
    • Shows initiative, independent judgment, and professional, independent project execution
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Written and verbal communications skills to relay issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    • Creative thinker; able to multi-task
    • Builds productive internal/external working relationships
    • Able to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design

    Preferred:

    • Degree in security, networking, IT or related are preferred. 
    • Skills in at least some of these:
      • Windows system administration – Server-side experience including Active Directory
      • Virtualization knowledge with emphasis on VMware
      • Network engineering
      • Linux administration
      • Voice communication
      • Backup systems and configuration
      • Cyber security
    • Certification in A+, Network+, Security+, CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CEH, CISSP, VCA, VCP, MCSA, etc.

    *US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

     

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.
