    Lead Fire Control System (FCS) Systems Engineer

     (US Citizenship Required*)

    Pittsfield, MA



    • Design/development and field troubleshooting
    • Analyze, define, & manage requirements; do functional & performance analyses and detail trade studies; design, integrate, and test systems; validate and interface definition studies of system, subsystem or system elements with minimal supervision
    • Create technical plans, analyze cost, risk, supportability, and effectiveness for subsystems /system elements
    • Analyze customer requirements, develop system requirements, and define allocations to lower levels
    • Develop and evaluate systems, networks, and information systems to ensure designs meet governmental security specifications
    • Contribute to detailed technical analyses at the system of system (SOS) level
    • Synthesize solutions to meet customer expectations, technical performance, schedule and cost constraints
    • Lead Modeling & Simulation
    • Research and analyze data to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Support generation of technical engineering products by using appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
    • Research, design, and develop systems, in conjunction with software and hardware product development, applying principles and techniques of systems engineering, modeling and simulation and analysis
    • Lead/direct lower level employees; lead technical tasks for small teams or projects
    • Begins to provide engineering support to proposals; participate in or lead SOW generation for subcontracts
    • Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
    • Plan and execute significant project tasks for activities described above
    • Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
    • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
    • Design a complete and complex framework, system or product
    • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments; may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)
    • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
    • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative, effective ways
    • Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses
    • Contact with managers, project teams, external customers, vendors, and Business Development
    • Work without appreciable direction
    • Help achieve business objectives and develop new theories and method
    • May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
    • May develop system security documentation on both new and fielded information systems
    • Travel may be required


    • Required – active Secret clearance. Candidates without active clearance will not be considered.
    • Background in systems and hardware engineering (focus on hardware electrical design or FPGA)
    • Agile experience preferred.
    • Strong use and understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories; knowledge of related disciplines
    • Proficienct with requirements management & system modeling tools
    • Recognizes various architectural patterns and applies them appropriately
    • Proficient MS Office applications
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills to relay issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    • Able to get buy-in on concepts and ideas
    • Creative thinker; able to multi-task
    • Strong ability to clearly report information relevant to sound systems engineering design
    • Strong understanding of project leadership principles: SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls

    *US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.


    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's in Systems or Electrical Engineering, or a related specialized area (or equivalent experience) and 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master's and 6+ years of experience.
