    Sheet Metal Mechanic (SMM)

    (U.S. Citizenship Required*)

    Greenville, SC



    • Modify P-3 and or C-130 aircraft and major subassemblies.
    • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair production sheet metal products and equipment such as control boxes, drain pipes, ventilators and furnace casings in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
    • Set up and operate fabricating machinery; shape metal over anvils, blocks or forms; operate welding and soldering equipment.
    • May be required to make sheet metal layouts and inspect assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications.
    • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statically process or other control procedures.
    • 1st and 2nd shift position (6:30am – 4pm and 3:30pm – 1am)


    • Required – extensive aircraft structural modification experience on large body aircraft
    • Required – pass company-administered SMM assessment
    • Required – bring personal tools and shadowed toolbox required by the company. Personal tool inventory list must be completed prior to arrival
    • Required – pass a tool inspection on first day
    • FAA Airframe or Powerplant License preferred.
    • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Able to work with precision measuring instruments, micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales.
    • Can handle repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms.
    • Can stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, and work on or in the aircraft.
    • Can occasionally sit, climb, and balance.
    • Can frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds.
    • Has the following vision abilities: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Can wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed to perform job tasks.
    • Can handle regular exposure to vibration, as well as frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
    • Can properly use, handle and dispose of hazardous materials, and toxic or caustic chemicals per Government regulations and company procedures.
    • Can handle occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
    • Can work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, FOD-free work area.

    *U.S. Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.


    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent
