    Satellite Ground Terminal Engineer

     (US Citizenship Required*)

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Ground Terminal.
    • Support and perform signal monitoring tasks that include alarm / discrepancy identification / isolation analysis from a control room for remote transmission across distributed network to include up/down frequency converters, modems, multiplexers, fiber optic data transport, ranging systems, HPAs, ADCs/DACs, and Digital Signal Processors (DSP) system/devices to assure product quality and discrepancy resolution to optimum parameters.
    • Track preventative and routine maintenance of electronic and electromechanical equipment for the Satellite Ground Terminal.
    • Review new and revised technical documentation then provide updates as needed, adapt factory delivered processes and procedures into operational procedures, as well as identify and develop new processes and procedures to comply with program documentation requirements.
    • Capture metrics on the equipment and the operational performance of the Ground Terminal.
    • Perform, support, and foster continuous improvements to operational processes to improve the quality of operational support provided to our end customer
    • Contribute to the development of new theories and method

    Qualifications

    • Required – active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. Candidates without this clearance will not be considered.
    • Able to work as on-call Engineer for overall system, approximately every 6 weeks; Off-hours contingency recovery support for Ground Terminal, as needed.
    • Able to work in a collaborative environment with program engineers on site, able to mentor junior engineers on all aspects of the system.
    • Able to articulate system technical capabilities analyze system problems, and provide innovative solutions in a timely manner to customers, program management, and peers.
    • Able to work seamlessly with E1/E2 Engineering teammates and associate contractors to ensure end-to-end system integrity.
    • Strong use and understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Strong knowledge of other related disciplines
    • Strong proficiency with requirements management
    • Recognizes various architectural patterns and applies them appropriately
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to get buy-in on concepts and ideas

    • Effective in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions

    Preferred:

    • 5 years’ experience with Satellite Ground systems; detailed knowledge of Satellite Baseband Infrastructure
    • 2 years’ experience working with telecommunications/signal processing equipment
    • Excellent Oral and Written communication skills
    • Willingness to work with team members.
    • Provide support for signal processing and routing equipment as well as test to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements for Ground Terminal engineering efforts
    • Experience with telemetry, command, & ranging signal processing hardware such as bit syncs, frame syncs.
    • Experience and/or education in configuring any T&C equipment in an earth station
    • Experience with up/down frequency converters, modems, multiplexers, fiber optic data transport, ranging systems, HPAs, ADCs/DACs, and Digital Signal Processors (DSP) system/devices.
    • Able to respond to and follows-up on system problems reports; to ensure the problem reports are resolved, approved by the customer pro closure, and closed out within the problem report system.
    • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance providing excellent customer service at all times, to include maintaining a good work ethic and assisting operators and other engineers when needed.
    • Able to use problem solving strategies to identify, analyze, and solve technical issues, along with the ability to know when to escalate mission critical issues to the proper channels as they arise.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Radio Frequency Engineering or other technical discipline or the equivalent required (or equivalent experience) and 8+ years of relevant experience
    • Or, Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
    • Agile experience preferred
